Application · insert & overmoulding

Metal goes in.
Cycle time stays put.

Insert moulding, insert overmoulding and metal overmoulding all put a pre-made part into the tool before the plastic. A vertical injection moulding machine holds that insert flat on a horizontal parting line, so gravity and the vertical clamp keep it seated while the mould closes — no fixtures fighting the shot.

Process · four stations

01

Load insert

Operator or robot places the metal or cable insert into the open station of the vertical rotary table.

02

Index table

The table indexes the loaded station under the injection unit while the next is loaded in parallel.

03

Inject

The vertical clamp closes over the seated insert and plastic overmoulds it in a single shot.

04

Unload

The finished overmoulded part is removed — degated and oriented — and the cycle repeats.

A line diagram, not a photo — on a vertical machine the loading station is open and flat, which is exactly what makes insert loading reliable.

Part families

Where overmoulding pays off.

  • Metal overmoulding — motor rotors, generator regulators, connector pins.
  • Insert overmoulding — threaded bushings, terminals, seat springs, belt fasteners.
  • Cable / connector overmoulding — strain-relief and sealed cable ends.
  • Encapsulation — sensors and electronics sealed against the environment.

Each of these leaves the cell as a finished assembly rather than a bare moulding — the higher added value that justifies the vertical machine.
